McDreamy to join “The Walking Dead”

McDreary understands zombies

Looks like the rumours about the next contract of Patrick Dempsey have been confirmed! The actor, better known as Derek Shepherd, fictional surgeon from the medical drama ‘Grey’s Anatomy’, will soon join the cast of the zombie drama ‘The Walking Dead’.

Apparently, Patrick decided to change series to shed his romantic screen image.

I want to let my fans know that I am not the softie I might appear to be on the screen. I am tough and can kill zombies, probably even better than Rick. I might even become one myself.

Dempsey’s new role has been revealed earlier today: he will play a surgeon, filling in for Rick’s latest psychotic kill.

His weapon of choice will be the scalpel; with his profound knowledge of brain surgery, he has got what it takes to become one of the top zombie killers in the series. Fans already started betting on Dempsey joining the ‘walkers’, as his usual extended monologues will not be tolerated for long.

The 5th season of ‘The Walking Dead’ has attracted a lot of attention from world-renowned writers like George R. R. Martin and J. K. Rowling. Apparently, the author of the ‘Song of Ice and Fire‘ (known as the ‘Game of Thrones’ series) suggested to incorporate characters of Ned Stark’s family into the zombie saga as well, so he could kill them all over again. He also expressed his interest in writing the new 6th season of the epic series but has been turned down. The executive producer of the show, Frank Darabont, commented on the unrealised cooperation with George R. R. Martin:

In the initial screenplay, George wanted the cast to fight against the walkers from behind the wall in the North, the ‘Canadians’. The script was just so full of stereotypes – he even called one of the episodes “You know nothing, Coral”.

It seems like ‘The Walking Dead’ has become a safe haven for worn off actors. A few hours ago, the entire cast of ‘Lost’ has been signed to join ‘The Walking Dead’. Will it help boosting their popularity? Only Rick knows.
